Three Unique Designs for Every Bag Maker

The Vicky May Bag Pattern is not just one design but offers three fantastic options:

  1. Option 1: Features two front gusseted pockets, ideal for those who love a bit of extra storage. This version allows you to play with different fabrics, making it perfect for those who enjoy experimenting with textures and patterns.

  2. Option 2: A larger gusseted pocket on the front, offering a sleek and modern look. This option is great for intermediate bag makers looking for a clean, spacious design. It is also the most popular of the three options.

  3. Option 3: A simple front slip pocket. This version is an excellent starting point for those newer to bag making, providing a straightforward yet stylish design.

Each option offers a unique style and functionality, making the Vicky May an adaptable pattern for any occasion, from a casual day out to a chic evening event.

Practical Features and High-Quality Construction

One of the standout features of the Vicky May Bag is its practicality. The interior is thoughtfully designed with multiple pockets, including a zipper pocket and two slip pockets, ensuring you stay organised on the go. It’s spacious enough to hold a small water bottle, making it a practical choice for everyday use.

The pattern’s construction involves a bound method, giving the bag a structured and defined shape. This not only enhances the bag’s durability but also its overall aesthetic. A unique grab handle on the back provides an alternative carrying option, perfect for quick grab-and-go moments when you don’t want to use the longer strap.

Material and Customisation Options

You can make the Vicky May Bag using various materials like quilting cotton or faux leather, cork or vinyl. I recommend you check your own machine limitations if wanting to use a thicker fabric than quilting cotton as a regular machine may not handle the layers well.

For beginners, starting with quilting cotton and fusible fleece or foam is recommended. If you are wanting to use a sew in foam you can find a tutorial on how to add that in this video here.

The pattern is incredibly versatile, allowing for plenty of customisation. You can choose feature fabrics for the front panel or mix and match materials to create a truly unique bag. This flexibility means you can make a Vicky May Bag that perfectly matches your style or the intended use.
